Fulvio Risso

Fulvio Risso (1971), male, is Associate Professor with the Department of Control and Computer Engineering of Politecnico di Torino, Italy. He received the M.Sc. degree in Computer Engineering in 1995 and the Ph.D. in Computer and System Engineering from Politecnico di Torino in 2000.
His research interests focus on service orchestration and high-speed in-network processing. Past activities include network analysis, network monitoring, peer-to-peer overlays, and IPv6.
He is author of 100+ papers; he participated in the program committee of several IEEE conferences and he served as a reviewer for several top international journals. He served as POLITO coordinator in several National and European funded research projects. He is in charge of students and staff mobility with the Department of Computer and Control Engineering, and responsible for the network and multimedia lab.
Fulvio is very active in open-source projects. He started several projects including WinPcap (http:/www.winpcap.org), the de-facto standard library for traffic capture under the Windows platform, NetBee (http://www.nbee.org), a packet processing library that includes an innovative hardware abstraction (the NetVM) and protocol description language (NetPDL), FROG (https://github.com/netgroup-polito/frog4), a multi-domain cloud/NFV orchestrator and the recent Polycube (https://github.com/polycube-network/polycube), which provides a flexible and efficient platform for virtualized services in Linux.
